Institute of Serbian Language, SANU

ISJ SANU Website

Project Overview

The Institute of Serbian Language (SANU) required a modern, structured, and easily maintainable website that could present a large amount of academic and institutional content in a clear and accessible way.

The main goal was to build a fast, responsive WordPress platform that allows non-technical editors to manage complex content types such as publications, projects, and institutional updates.

The Challenge

This project required more than a standard WordPress build. The website needed to support a large amount of structured content while remaining easy to edit and scalable over time.

  • Multiple custom content sections with consistent layout
  • Easy editing for institute staff without technical support
  • High performance and long-term maintainability
  • Fully custom front-end implementation based on the provided design

My Role

I was responsible for the full front-end development and WordPress implementation, including building a custom theme, structuring the CMS with ACF and Custom Post Types, and ensuring a responsive and maintainable architecture.

Solution & Implementation

To achieve flexibility and scalability, I developed the website using a modular component-based approach, allowing the institute’s team to easily manage and expand content.

  • Custom WordPress theme development tailored to institutional needs
  • Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) for editor-friendly structured content
  • Custom Post Types for publications, projects, and research entities
  • Responsive layout optimized across all breakpoints
  • Clean front-end architecture focused on performance and accessibility

Technologies & Tools

  • WordPress (Custom Theme Development)
  • Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
  • Custom Post Types (CPT)
  • HTML5 / CSS3 / SASS
  • JavaScript
  • Responsive & Accessible UI Implementation

Outcome

The final result is a modern institutional website that is easy to maintain, structured around scalable content types, optimized for performance, and aligned with the institute’s long-term needs.
